Bio

Jan Hudson:  Jan plays banjo for the band and has been involved in bluegrass music since the early 1980's.  Having taken classical piano lessons for several years, she realized that classical music just wasn't her thing.  One night at a Steve Martin concert, she saw the comedian standing on the stage with an arrow through his head playing the banjo, telling the audience that he "plays the banjo because you can never get depressed when you play banjo...."   Well, that settled it for her!  Much to her "classical" mother's chagrine, Jan and her younger brother began taking banjo lessons and Jan found her music and her instrument and has never looked back.   She has played guitar and bass in a couple of bluegrass bands and also repairs acoustic instruments and does much of the promotional work for the band.  A professional photographer by trade, Jan has owned her own photography studio since 1973.

Tom Galbraith:  Plays mandolin for the band.  After becoming interested in vocal music while in high school, Tom began to play the guitar by learning to play folk and southern rock tunes.  Through the next several years, while playing and singing in church productions and praise teams, Tom began writing songs and fell in love with the story telling process of songwriting.  His first songs were written for a church musical called, "The Fourth Wish", and were primarily gospel tunes.  In 2002, after several more years of playing with various church related musical groups, he began performing with the gospel group, B.O.B., (Brothers of Bluegrass), where he found a new love in bluegrass and bluegrass gospel music.  He continued writing and singing and playing mandolin with BO  until 2006, when they disbanded and began his history with the Fossil Creek Bluegrass Band.  Tom is a retired school teacher and guidance counselor and lives in Wauseon, Ohio, with his wife.  He is an amazing luthier and builds beautiful mandolins and guitars.

Dave Borkowski:    Dave started playing music at the age of five, when he picked up his first guitar.  He grew up with the music of Flatt and Scruggs, Chet Atkins, Johnny Cash, Hee Haw, Elvis, and on and on, so bluegrass music was in his blood.   In the 1980's, as a high school student, the 80's rock and roll music took over his life and he started a successful high school band and morphed into a hugely successful rock band called,  Uncle Knuckle Funk.  UKF played original music and was on the road from 1994 until 2004.  In 2006, by happenstance, he ran into the Fossil Creek Band while they were playing a gig at the Toledo Zoo, and the rest is history.  He went out, bought his first Martin and after jamming with the group a few times, ended up joining and has added a huge dimension to the group's music.  He is a fantastic picker and singer.  Dave is a auto body man at one of Toledo's best body shops and lives in Toledo with his wife.   He has a son Kelsey, who is an amazing jazz drummer.   Dave has written several of the songs that are on the "Songs from Home" and "Waitin' on the Daylight:  cds and is a prolific song writer.   His hobbies include a Harley, nuff said...lol.

Jerry Spitler:  (Bass) Jerry has been a member of the Fossil Creek Band on and off for the last 5 years.  He is a talented bass player who also plays keyboards with several classic rock bands in the Toledo area.   A printer/stitcher by trade, Jerry retired in 2012, and has been playing with the group for the last two years.  He has a great personality and brings fun and movement to the band.   He is one of the best promoters this side of Nashville and we are very lucky to have him as a "Creeker".

Krista Solars:  (fiddle)  Krista is the newest member of the Fossil Creek Band and we are so happy to have her aboard.   She hails from Jeromesville, Ohio and is a four time Ohio State Fiddle Champion and can not only play fantastic bluegrass, she plays classical violin so beautifully that Master's would be proud.  Krista attended Oberlin College and Indiana University where she achieved a Master's in Violin Performance.   Not only is she uber talented, she is a sweet and fun young lady.
