What’s the story behind your band name?
This project started back in 2011. We called ourselves “Novalea” and the music was headed more in the punk direction. We decided to change the style of music to more of a pop/rock direction and Mike came up with the name “Folding The Pages”
Describe your sound:
The band’s influences range from pop to punk with a dark side that’s pleasing for any rock music fan. From Acoustic to loud guitars, we cover all the elements very well. Who’s sitting in your audience?: Teens & young adults.

The song or songs that changed your life and why
The track “Lisa May (Calling Your Name)” has been a fan favorite right from the start. We constantly hear from our fans how they can’t get the song out of the their head. We decided to record our debut EP and record songs that we feel are catchy and memorable for any music fan.
Why did you submit to this year’s Independent Music Awards?
We think it’s rewarding to have a chance to be involved in the music world. We like the fact that the IMA’s offer a way for a band or singer/songwriter to be rewarded for the hard work that they’ve done!
If you win and/or get nominated, how will you use your IMA honor to further your career?
We would be grateful and honored! We would add it to our press kit and share the news. It’s a lot of competition and to even get a nominated would be fantastic.
Who is your musical hero & what would you like to learn from them?
We don’t have a musical hero! We do have influences that range from punk to metal such as, Rise Against, Snapcase, Lifetime, Green Day and so on.

Folding The Pages: Here To Stay

Mike Carroll leads alternative band, Folding The Pages, from Bergen County. Alongside Mike Ford and Dylan Gadino, the trio is set to play a show at Maxwell’s in Hoboken. It’s been almost a year since the EP release of Lisa May, and it looks like they might also be showcasing some new music. The band has recently delivered a new song, “None Of This Will Go Away,” brimming with heavy guitars. You can see them live on May 22. - The Aquarian Weekly

Bio
After a successful stint fronting melodic punk trio Words Away, New Jersey native Mike Carroll set out on his own to create Folding The Pages. Though he's been an established songwriter, guitarist and vocalist for years, this exciting new project represents Carroll's marked evolution and maturation. Present in each Folding The Pages song is the stiff spine of hard rock enveloped in pop song structures, gut-wrenching lyrics and sing-along sensibilities. Accessible to mainstream audiences but with just enough punch to attract song nerds worldwide, Folding The Pages, simply put, is a rich musical experience.
