Featherstone

It was at their high school talent show when Holly first heard Savannah sing and play the banjo. It was in this moment that she, a vocalist and guitarist herself, knew they needed to make music together. The two began collaborating, and after several years of changing locations, music styles and band members, Holly and Savannah finally found the perfect means of projecting their creativity. The product of this is Featherstone.

While Holly was away studying music education, Savannah moved to study photojournalism, and the two wrote songs that would come together over many a Skype session and email chain. When they finally came back together during the summers, Featherstone came to life. The band has played shows at local favorites like Cincinnati's Rohs Street Cafe and frequent house shows, open mics, and battle of the bands competitions. Recording with The Frankl Project front man Jacob Tippey at Curtis Inc., Featherstone was able to produce their first self-titled EP in 2012. The band has continued writing and plan to release a full length in the near future.

Featherstone is a combination of folk, subtle angst, indie rock, feminism and independence. Holly and Savannah have been influenced by artists like Laura Marling, mewithoutyou, Conor Oberst, Angel Olsen, Cat Power, Blitzen Trapper and more. The two have written songs through love and heartache, themes that beam uniquely through each song. While sailing through a time of figuring out where life is meant to go next, one can be sure that Featherstone will continue writing songs that are relevant and telling of our time.
