Bio

Staccato flow like a helicopter, flowing over beats like water, singing hooks born of struggle, DonTre is a lyrically gifted rapper and vocalist with a ‘70s R & B/Funk flair. Born Darnell Thomas in Kansas City, MO in the middle of the ‘80’s, he was inspired by “chopper” style rappers from the Midwest and influenced by down home Delta Blues.

DonTre released his first record at 17 titled “Tre4 and BLD,” and was scouted by several record labels, then at 21, DonTre released a gospel album, titled “Christ Child.” His motivation and approach to music became less radicalized, yet still didn’t conform to music industry standards. DonTre’s bars continued to keep the essence of his beliefs, but expanded to intricate rhyme patterns and soulful delivery.

DonTre is back on the scene with the “DonTre vs the Industry Mixtape,” remixing classics like “Shed So Many Tears,” and is heating up social media with 80K+ views plus on his videos and music. Additionally, DonTre has been scouted by several modeling agencies for his unique style and presence on the stage, and his music was recently selected for the Team Backpack (Mission Underground LA), OneShot, I Discover Stars and Coast2Coast competitions.
