Bio
Derrick Mendonca has been performing throughout Arizona since 1999 in various bands and in solo projects. Derrick has a prolific catalog of original songs, but will also include a variety of classic rock covers to please the fans. Main musical influences are The Beatles, ELO, Bob Dylan, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden. Basically, if it's got good guitar, it's in the club. Primarily a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, Derrick has recently been working on proficiency in home studio recording in order to branch out and create a fuller sound rather than remaining solo acoustic on recorded tracks, though at live performances, he remains solo acoustic. He has been experimenting in film score style music, and has been enriching his solo acoustic guitar compositions with backing orchestral instruments. When not working on music, Derrick is a case manager in behavioral health and suicide prevention. He has also been able to incorporate music therapy into his work since 2013. Derrick also enjoys movies, cooking, and gaming. He has been married since 2006 to his wife Emily, and they have a beautiful children, Bailey, and Bennett!
