Bio
Cantor Steve Hevenstone is an Energetic, Charismatic Cantor who through his gifts engages the Congregation at all levels of participation. As a Master Educator, Cantor Hevenstone believes in LDor Vador, teaching all ages within the community. Cantor Hevenstone received his Cantorial training through CICA (Cantorial Interns of the Cantors Assembly) and is a proud member of the Cantors Assembly (cantors.org) and a member of the Executive Council. Steven Hevenstone expands upon the collaborative approach to spiritual guidance working together with Professional Staff and Lay Leadership for the betterment of the entire kahal. Cantor Hevenstone has a rich, full-bodied baritone voice which encourages participation. His training and experience combines our rich heritage of traditional nusach and Hazzanut with a contemporary musical style. Cantor Hevenstone is an accomplished musician and choral conductor who plays piano, guitar, and other instruments. He is also a composer and arranger of Jewish choral and solo music and a play write creating original Purim Spiels and Educational Skits for the classroom and Synagogue. Many of his Choral and Cantorial pieces can be heard throughout the United States, Canada, Argentina, Australia, and Israel. Cantor Hevenstone has experience creating and working with children and adult choirs with both professionals and volunteers. He is a strong leader and team player who encourages participation while serving the Jewish community with pastoral support and leadership.
