D Boone Pittman

We first heard from D Boone Pittman back in November when we featured the single “Furnace Mountain” from his album “Bluegrass American Dream.” On that record the proud Kentuckian told the story of Fitchburg, a forgotten mining town left behind by the technological advances and economic shifts of the 20th century. It was a heartbreaking tale of an America lost to history.

D Boone Pittman is a singer/songwriter currently residing in the Lawrenceburg, KY area, a town situated between the major metropolitan and cultural hubs of Louisville and Lexington. A lifelong musician and performer, he grew up on The Beatles, Johnny Cash and The Boss. As an adult his own music veered more toward the roots music and Outlaw Country for which his home state is most famous. However, he always keeps a bit of Rock & Roll bubbling beneath the surface of his tunes.

“Emerge” is the brand new album from D Boone Pittman, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 30, 2021. The ten song collection finds the black-hatted crooner taking stock of the weird world that was 2020, and continues into 2021. The album finds D asking the question we’ve all been asking, “Where do we go from here.” His answer is simple, we rise.

From the uplifting title track’s message of unity to the powerful and personal tale of perseverance on the closing piano ballad “Rise,” D Boone Pittman gives voice to the hope that humanity will evolve into something greater, stronger and kinder as a result of our shared hardship and pain. The story comes from various angles and in multiple flavors of Country, Rock and blues. He is sometimes quiet and contemplative, delivering thoughtful Cowboy philosophy on tracks like “Pilgrim.” Elsewhere he finds a silver lining, as on the lighthearted Country waltz romance of “The Quarantine Song.” He expresses the lockdown experience of millions with the brilliant and heartfelt lyric, “There’s nothing I’d rather do than do nothing with you.”

Throughout the album Pittman has some fun with various tales of romance, both good and bad. “Medusa’s Love” is a witty take on life with the ultimate femme fatale. “Jordache Jenny” is a good time for anyone who remembers pining over the prettiest girl in school. “She Likes the Beach ” is a tale of opposites attracting (and then repelling) set to a cool honky tonk groove. That track’s gritty electric piano riffing is a particularly nice touch. And D delivers some classic biographical Country on tracks like “Clyde” and the moving ‘Jesus in the drunk tank’ tale of “The Revelation.”

“Emerge” spans the spectrum of human drama while exploring all corners of traditional American music. It’s a powerful record from a skilled songwriter, backed by a top notch band. D Boone Pittman covers a lot of emotional ground on the record and bookends it nicely with inspirational messages of hope and strength for us all as we emerge from dark times into better days.
