Becoming Human

Hard Rock

Alternative Metal

Formed in 2011 with guitar player Joel "Joey Joels" Webber and front man
Frankie James. After writing together for 5 years and undergoing
multiple line up changes, the 1-2 toxic-twins-esk punch of Joels and
James met Mark Alexander, a utility type musician who played all
instruments well, but had no interest in touring. Becoming Human as a
three piece and Mark Alexander as Drummer went on to release their
musical Debut with the Meteorites EP. A southern-soul hard rock with
flairs of quick licks and lyrics is what came out of the project with
tracks like "Backwoods" to set the band apart from other groups in their
class.

After mild success as a writing only band, Joels and James grew hungry
of the road and more exposure. Mark Alexander would soon resign from the
group, putting Becoming Human inline for new tryouts and auditions and
this time the talent came in promptly. Seeing many good musicians over
the years, Joels and James stayed patient and waited for the next energy
to truly lock in. Just weeks after Alexander stepped down, they met
drummer Shea O'Neil. "He reminded me of a Billy The Kid" said James.
Playing mostly on his own, headphones loaded with progressive metal and
firing at every note with a very unique style of pedal timing. Shea
O'Neil was the next level Drummer Joels and James needed to push
Becoming Human onto bigger things.

Moving forward as a three piece the band began touring more and more.
With Shea O'Neil behind the kit, the band's musical direction changed
drastically. Now powering out faster, more dynamic songs, O'Neil allowed
Joels to really open up on the guitar and in turn went full triangle to
frontman James who became significantly more aggressive vocally.

Writing new songs, playing new venues and gathering fans fast we also
began gathering more criticism.  As we stretched in sound, the low end
of our material was becoming more apparently hollow. After years of
being a three piece, sound progression had reached a critical point and
Becoming Human decided it was time to start up the auditions again, it
was time to hire a bassist.

Now, although being a bassist is not the most prestigious position on
stage, we truly wanted someone to have such a presence that it would
change the perception of the position all together. "These things carry
over in connecting to fans. When someone loves what they do, you love to
watch and listen to what they do." After many auditions, tryouts,
rehearsals, writing sessions and interviews, Alton Minor was the sure
stand out, and for Becoming Human a perfect puzzle piece. "He's the
water of the group." Minor was able to not only step into previous songs
like his material had always been there, but he also made a substantial
push in our ability to write more melodic material while retaining the
heavy under tones and rhythms. To top it all off, Minor only 21 years
old  was also a creative visionary for the direction of the bands
artistic projects as well.

To date, With the band now officially a 4 piece and thriving; Becoming
Human is on fire. The new Media Mud EP has gone straight up since its
release in May 2016. Now trending a standard for other hard rock-metal
bands, Becoming Human has a knack for keeping raw talent and performance
as their edge; opposing over produced material and often over
digitalized Music. The name of the band is becoming ever more
understandable and obvious, even snagging the term "Nation" coined by
the fans themselves as a message for the rest of the music world; "We
are Becoming Human Nation."
