Bio

Atlas Jungle is an electronic band focused on creating improvised dance grooves with a tribal yet electronic feel rooted from their concoction of jam/house/psychedelic rock/funk. Using instruments to create music and light shows simultaneously, Atlas has created a live show experience where no song is played the same way twice, visually or sonically. When Jeremy did the light show for the Big Up Festival in 2012, Nathan and his brother Jamaal took the trip with him. It was during this weekend that the idea to form a band together was born.

"The music we create, says Jeremy, is inspired by spirituality and the energy that live concerts and the experiences around them have imparted to us. These experiences have changed the way our minds relate to our perceptions to the point where it is a daily occurrence to remember how music has changed our lives. Its always in our heads and so the wish to create our own music comes very naturally.”

Based out of New Haven CT., the two foundational members of the band are Jeremy Spang (keyboard, samples and vocals) and Nathan Bryant (Bass). Sometimes the band expands out to 4 members adding in percussion and guitar. They have performed at regional festivals like Pink Moon and Connected Fest, and have opened for members of Disco Biscuits, Brightside, Horizon Wireless, and more. Their musical influences/comparisons include Phish, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Talking Heads, Lotus, The New Deal, and Thievery Corporation.

By using a computer with the projection mapping software, Resolume, Atlas is able to make their keyboard communicate with their projector so that every time a note is played on their keyboard, a note is heard and a projected image is played/seen at the same time. Entire churches, libraries, and custom installations have all been used for their lights shows as seen in their music videos. Jeremy started out doing lights on the wood stage at the Big Up music festival in 2012. It was at this festival that their first band Outta D'ark was formed.

Jeremy is also the founder of two holistic operations. Mudra Mushroom Tea, a functional beverage used for meditation and stress releif and the float tank center, Surrender to the Float in Guilford CT. that offers his local community the ability to refresh and reset their minds in a sensory deprivation float tank.
