Bio

Ashes to Oranges is an independent hard rock band from Ocean county NJ. Comprised solely of members Tyler Schafer (guitar/vocals) and Joseph Edwards (drums), Ashes to Oranges ditched the bass player in turn for some extra stage room and better flow. They are currently finishing up their debut EP "Inanimate Animals" with producer/engineer Dan Matthews (the Black Clouds) and Seattle legend Jack Endino.

Like a phoenix from the ashes (pun absolutely intended), Ashes to Oranges rose to prominence after the dissolution of Tyler and Joe's other musical endeavor, Humongous. They decided to carry on and continue to bring hard rock back home to the Jersey Shore. After a year of playing locally and solidifying their sound, they felt it was time to take it to a studio.

Thanks to producer Dan Matthews, their trip into the studio was fruitful, yielding the 4 tracks from the upcoming EP. Their sound can be described as a calculated chaos. a great attempt at Evoking the feeling of the first time mom or dad let you say "fuck" as a kid after something bad happened. They're not rude, they're not crass, but they make you want to be.

Shying away from the conventional drum/guitar/bass setup, Ashes to Oranges gives new life to a tired cliche in rock music. Drawing from influences like Local H, Queens of the Stone Age, and Incubus, you can hear a distinct call back to a time of simpler melodies and hard hitting lyrics. Their stage show can bring you from a slow shuffle to a full on mosh depending on the tune, and their fingers are never too far from the pulse either, as they have been known to throw in a modern pop cover or two to keep the mood light and playful.
